Embassy of Iran in Beijing
The Iranian embassy in Beijing is located at Chancery: No.13, Dong Liu Jie, San Li Tun, it's purpose being to represent the interests of Iran in China. The embassy is primarily there to look out for the interests of
Iranian visitors to China, they can provide them with advice and assistance if they need it. The days when the purpose of the embassy was so that the ambassador could discuss issues with the Chinese government on his countries behalf are long gone. These days if the leaders need to discuss and issue they pick up the phone. However the embassy has found a new role to keep itself relevant, it promotes Iranian business in China. International trade is more important than ever but it can be difficult to make the arrangements to do business in a foreign country. The embassy can help, whether it is to sell Iranian products in China or to get the Chinese to invest in Iran.
Iran is a middle eastern country and it is well known for being a militant Islamic country. This scares a lot of people but the truth is that the Iranians are some of the friendliest people in the world.
Iran is one of the most misunderstood countries in the world. Often confused for Arabs the Iranians are actually of Persian descent. Iran is also one of the few democracies in the middle east and it has one of the most stable governments in the region. The country also has the best educated and most highly skilled workforce in the middle east. Most of Iran's problems are image related, they are constantly being portrayed in western media as a threat.
The economy of Iran is one of the most diversified of any middle eastern country. They don't have the same kind of oil reserves that some of their neighbours have and so have had to look to other industries.
That being said there is oil in Iran and it is the largest industry in the country, but there is also the start of a high tech industry as well as a service industry. This should put Iran in a good position economically, especially when the oil starts to run out, but they suffer from their reputation which limits the number of countries they can trade with. This has put a serious damper on the economy but it is still one of the strongest in the region.
Relations between China and Iran are very close, partly because China wants access to Iranian oil and partly because Iran have been cut off from trading with most countries in the west. Quite a few Chinese business plans focus on exploiting the Iranian natural resources.
Part of China's strategy to become a world player is to bring countries that aren't already aligned with the United States into their sphere of influence. Given the difficulties between the US and Iran they were the perfect target for this, and the Chinese have done just that. Iran want to be players on the international stage and dealing with China gives them that opportunity, so the relationship should remain close.
