Canada is the second largest country on earth and one of the most sparsely populated. The country takes up the northern part of North America and stretches nearly to the north pole. Most Canadians live in the south near to the US border and that leaves a very large area that has few people in it. Canada has a very close relationship with the United States and by and large follow their lead on foreign policy, although not always. The economy of Canada is heavily tied to the United States and is one of the strongest in the world.

Canada is somewhat strange as it is a post industrial country with a large service based economy. However in addition to the high tech industries Canada still has a large agriculture and resource based industry. This isn't hugely surprising given the number or resources Canada has, it is one of the most resource rich countries in the world, but it does make Canada different from most other western countries. Canada has weathered the recent global recession better than any other western country and is in a very strong position to continue to grow in the future.

Canada and China have had a good relationship for a number of years. Canada was one of the first western countries to officially recognize China and this has helped to get their relationship off to a good start. It also helps that they both benefit from the relationship, China needs the resources that Canada has and Canada wants access to the Chinese market, making this partnership pretty profitable to Canadian businesses. Trade between the two countries has grown dramatically in recent years. Another reason for the strong relationship is the number of Chinese living in Canada, every year Canada is at the top of the list of countries that the Chinese are moving to.
