Brazil is the largest and most populous nation in South America. For many years the country was a colony of Portugal and as a result the language spoken is Portuguese rather than Spanish as is spoken in all of the other countries in the area. Brazil has one of the richest gaps between rich and poor of any country in the world. While the majority of Brazilians are very poor and live in third world conditions there is a small and very wealthy upper class, there are relatively few middle class people in Brazil. As the countries economy grows it is hoped that some of this wealth will spread down to the poor.

Brazil is one of the largest of the emerging economies and is expected to grow into a major player on the world stage over the next few decades. Brazil which has long relied on agriculture as it's primary industry has started to become a major manufacturing country. There is also a growing high tech industry as well as thriving aerospace and pharmaceutical industries in Brazil. Brazil is already the largest economy in South America and it is part of a group of countries that are expected to become part of the worlds leading economies. Brazil still has a long way to go but they are definitely on the right track.

Relations between China and Brazil are good for right now but that may not last as they are likely to become rivals in the not to distant future. China and Brazil are two of the leading emerging markets, both have large populations and rapidly growing economies, and quite a few Chinese companies are starting a business in Brazil. For the time being they are willing to work to together in order to help each other grow and as a result there has been a considerable increase in trade between the two. They are also both party to a number of international agreements and largely side with each other on most issues. However in the future they will likely find themselves in competition with one another at that point their how the relationship progresses is anybodies guess.
